La princesa Eugenia de York, nieta de la reina Isabel II, y el empresario Jack Brooksbank se han casado hoy en la capilla de San Jorge del castillo de Windsor, a las afueras de Londres, en presencia de unos 850 invitados.
El deán de Windsor, reverendo David Conner, fue el encargado de oficiar el enlace, el segundo que se celebra este año en Windsor, tras el de los duques de Sussex, Harry y Meghan, el pasado mayo.
Más discreta que esa celebración, la boda de Eugenia reunió, no obstante, a actores, modelos y otras celebridades, así como a los principales miembros de la familia real, con excepción de Camilla, duquesa de Cornualles y esposa del príncipe Carlos, que no acudió por tener un compromiso oficial en Escocia.
Durante la ceremonia, la hermana de Eugenia, la princesa Beatriz, leyó una pasaje de la Biblia mientras que el tenor italiano Andrea Bocelli cantó el Ave María de Franz Schubert.
La princesa Eugenia, de 28 años y novena en la línea de sucesión al trono británico, es hija de Andrés, duque de York, y Sara Ferguson, quienes desde hace varios años están divorciados.
La novia, que llegó al templo en un Rolls Royce Phanton VI de 1977 acompañada por su padre, llevó un vestido blanco de Peter Pilotto y Christopher De Vos, según el Palacio de Buckingham, residencia oficial de la familia real británica.
Entre los primeros en llegar esta mañana al templo anglicano figuran el cantante Robbie Willians y su mujer, Ayda Field, así como la cantante Ellie Goulding y la modelo Cara Delevigne.
En una jornada muy ventosa, que hizo volar más de una pamela a las invitadas al enlace, la princesa Eugenia y su prometido se casaron en Windsor mientras afuera unos 1.200 invitados del público siguieron la ceremonia a través de una pantalla gigante.
La princesa Eugenia y Brooksbank, de 31 años, se conocieron durante unas vacaciones de esquí en Suiza en 2010 y se comprometieron en Nicaragua a principios de este año.
Los gastos de la boda corren a cargo de la familia real, pero los de seguridad los asumirá el contribuyente británico, según los medios, que resaltan que esto ha creado polémica dado que la princesa Eugenia no es miembro activo de la familia real. EFE
