Kurt Russell nació el 17 de marzo de 1951 en Springtield, Massachusets (Estados Unidos).
Hijo del actor Bing Russell y la bailarina Louise Julia Crone. Su hermana Jill es la madre del jugador de béisbol Matt Franco.
En 1969, se graduó en la Thousand Oaks High School.
A principio de los años sesenta inició su carrera en el mundo de la televisión en la serie juvenil The Travels of Jamie McPheeters (1963-64), una década después comenzó a trabajar en películas de la factoría Disney.
Películas
En 1979 le ofrecen un papel en Elvis, de John Carpenter, y tras interpretar algunos papeles más en otros filmes, Kurt Russell se convierte en un éxito taquillero durante los años ochenta.
Algunos de sus mejores papeles fueron en la serie B fantástica, como Snake Plisken, el forajido de 1997: Rescate en Nueva York, o Jake Burton, el aventurero de Golpe en la pequeña China.
Otras de sus películas son: Marea de Fuego, Overboard, La Cosa,Soldier, Stargate, Tango y Cash, Breakdown, Tombstone, la leyenda de Wyatt Earp, Poseidón, 1997, y 2013, Rescate en Los Ángeles.
Interpretó al villano Stuntman Mike en el segmento dirigido por Quentin Tarantino de Death Proof de la película Grindhouse (2007), coescrita, producida y dirigida junto a Robert Rodríguez.
El 31 de agosto de 2013, se anunció que Russell había sido expulsado de Furious 7, estrenada en 2015.
Apareció en The Battered Bastards of Baseball, un documental sobre su padre y el equipo de beisbol Portland Mavericks, donde Kurt jugó durante un mes en su temporada inaugural en 1973, y que fue estrenado en el Festival de Cine de Sundance en 2014.
Vida personal
Casado con Season Hubley de 1979 a 1983, tuvieron un hijo, Boston Russell, en 1980.
En medio de su divorcio, Russell volvió a relacionarse con la actriz Goldie Hawn en el rodaje de la película Swing Shift. Tuvieron un hijo, Wyatt, en 1986.
